The Bridge at Narni by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot

The Bridge at Narni
Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot
1826
Oil on canvas
Realism
The Louvre

Considered one of the most direct and important influences on the Impressionist movement, Corot bridges the gap beautifully between Neoclassicism and Realism, and Impressionism. This painting is a great example of that, with the light and color recognizable in the later Impressionists, and the use of brown and black (the "forbidden colors" in Impressionism) seen used by the earlier Academics.
