Oil on canvas
Abstract Art, Neo-Plasticism
Kunsthaus Zürich
Piet Mondrian started his career as a figurative painter, but transitioned to more abstract painting around 1908. His move towards simple forms, primary colors, straight lines and black and white was inspired be his belief that art was highly spiritual and had the ability to convey the harmony of the universe if you stripped away the representational content of figurative painting.
