Do you sometimes feel like you can "see" sounds or "hear" colors and forms? Kandinsky strongly believed in this interconnection between the senses, a phenomenon known as synesthesia. We find many references to this in his art, for example him naming his pieces 'Compositions' or 'Improvisations' as if they were musical plays, with colors, lines and forms acting as the notes being played.
