Expressionism

Emerging in the beginning of the 1900's, Expressionism moved away from representing the world as we see it and rather focused on portraying the emotional experiences of living in it. Anxiety, alienation, and melancholy were often the themes in this new breed of artist's subjective interpretations of the world around them.
