Peasant Wedding by Pieter Bruegel the Elder

Pieter Bruegel the Elder was a Flemish Renaissance painter most notably known for his genre paintings. He chose landscapes and depictions of peasant life as his subjects, something few before him had even considered painting. We do, although, sense some distance between Bruegel and his subjects, as he probably saw himself as an intellectual, and the peasants as comic figures and yokels.
