The Skagen group, or 'Skagenmalerne' in Norwegian, was another talented group of Impressionist painters. The group consisted of members from Denmark, Sweden and Norway, and they were heavily inspired by the French Impressionists. The name 'Skagenmalerne' comes from the group meeting in Skagen, Denmark, every summer because the lighting and conditions for painting there were perfect.
