Danaë by Gustav Klimt

The myth of Danaë is depicted numerous times throughout the history of art. Danaë was imprisoned by her father so she would not be able to conceive a child as was prophesied. But the prophecy came true when Zeus, in the form of golden rain streaming through the roof, impregnated her, and she later gave birth to Perseus. Klimt makes no excuses in displaying the eroticism of the scene and the pleasure on Danaë's face.
